The Emerald Forest

Once Upon A Time, Along A Great River..

Many legends speak of an ancient forest on the fringes of the human world, beyond the seas and the celestial mountains. This forest is the great Amazon, the venerable and impenetrable Emerald Forest. As beautiful and formidable as the warrior goddesses from which its name is derived.

In the following photographs, you'll encounter a compilation of my 2018 expedition to the Amazon. This wasn't just a trip but an intensive immersion where I collaborated closely with the Waorani tribe of Ecuador. These images don't merely capture scenes; they encapsulate the very soul of the Amazon and its indomitable inhabitants.

Meet the Waoranis

The Waoranis are an indigenous group from the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador. They reside within the biodiverse Yasuní National Park and have historically defended their lands from oil and logging threats. Their distinctive culture and traditions are essential to the sustainability of the Amazon ecosystem.

The Amazon Basin

As we depart from the Ecuadorian highlands of the Waoranis territory and journey along the Napo River, the terrain undergoes a profound transformation. The vast waterways and sprawling floodplains of Brazil's Amazon basin are emerging, a region teeming with unparalleled biodiversity and intricate ecosystems.

The Land of

The Jaguar

In the southwest of the Amazon Rainforest, the state of Mato Grosso unveils the Pantanal, a vast wetland like no other. Boasting the highest concentration of wildlife in South America, this intricate maze of waterways and verdant landscapes is rightfully hailed as the land of the jaguar.
